Another weekend of socialising has passed. I have been thinking that we have been out more int he past 6 weeks than I can remember in the last 6 years! Unfortunately, night-life here means a definite early-hours of the morning' return home, so true to form we had a 3am followed by a 4am. Ouch!
Still, the weekend was certainly not wasted... We took some more friends off-roading to the sand dunes (the ones where we first got stuck) and had a fabulous time. Sharing with rather more adventurous (and skillful and maneuverable and lighter) quad bikes made the trip even more exciting. We found that going up a couple of the dunes was a little too much for our beautiful landy, but we persevered. Not so fun was the moment when we found ourselves perched at a rather strange angle on one of the peaks... A couple of bikes stopped, apparently to chuckle at our misfortune, but sped away when it appeared we may not be in mortal danger. A touch of 'artificial traction' (some rather clever red plastic) later, and we were tentatively off again.
We got chatting to the quad bike owners, and there was a definite implication that people often get stuck up on the dunes and that it is no problem if the car tips over... Apparently, they just tow you back. Nevertheless, not sure I would like to avail them of that particular offer!
By far the most exciting thing was waving to our friends sitting by the pool! They had declined our offer of accompanying us in favour of sitting by said pool and enjoying the sunshine, but requested we called when we were in sight. So we did and it was brilliant! Sadly, the camera doesn't have the best zoom on it, so I'm not sure exactly what you can see but we could definitely see people!
I have received my first parcel today (it only took 2 weeks to arrive)! Am very excited, and will open it on Thursday as instructed when my bro marries his lovely lady.
Not much more to report, I'm afraid. We have our first visitors booked in for early December, and then more expected in February. We are very excited! Plenty of other opportunities if anyone else wishes a trip to the sunshine!
More celebrations tonight - a 30th dinner. Hopefully not such a late one...!

ReplyDeleteHi. Back online, after Toni's beloved laptop went off to cyber heaven the other week. Am now on new lovely laptop (seems the same to me - but what do I know?!) and back on your blog. I have been keeping up to date with your mum at playgroup though! Glad you are still having fun.
