Land Rovers are Great!

Yet another slow news day I'm afraid.  Joe has the delight of his curriculum evening, so I am pottering in my classroom.  I am strangely enjoying the whole experience - am I really sad...?!

A geeky primary teacher linguistic observation for you - I am slowly training my class to say 'turn off' rather than 'close' the lights (apparently it's a rather common translation).  However, I spend no time at all training them to say 'may I use the bathroom' because, as one boy pointed out, it makes no sense to say 'can I'.  What a result!  Sadly, I am still training them to say 'please'.  Still, small mercies and all that.

We visited the nice chap at the car dealership today to try to sort out the registration (we are still driving round on trade plates which makes the car look brand new!).  Apparently, Land Rover keys are NOT supposed to be waterproof (despite the fact that Joseph went swimming with ours at Snake Canyon!). BUT - and this is most exciting - they automatically charge!  How cool is that?

I have just re-read what I have written....

I shall go now before I make myself look any geekier.  Sorry.  I did say it was another slow news day!

Hectic social weekend coming up - birthday dinner and drinks tomorrow at Left Bank (I have a strange feeling that we shall become quite acquainted with the place) followed by birthday BBQ for someone's 30th (youngster!) on Thursday and then birthday dinner for the same girl on Saturday!  I hope work doesn't get in the way too much next week.
