The Waterless Wadi

More exciting off-roading adventures today!

We drove into the mountains for more glorious driving and spectacular views.  Our first stop was at a small fort (name?  No idea! Sorry.)  Quite an interesting history lesson, and a nice wander around.

The main adventures of the day were still to come.  We arrived at a wadi at the base of 'little snake canyon' simply to find that the wadi was no longer there!  Still, we had an enjoyable picnic and some of the more adventurous amongst us found a swimming hole.  Given that finding it required jumping into pools from rocks, I was not one of them.

We continued on our journey towards the highest mountain in Oman.  Driving conditions were very exciting to say the least.  On many occasion we were looking down into the abyss from the 'goat track' while ascending quite rapidly and skillfully.  Thankfully, the car did us proud once more and got us up to the top with out much of a problem.  We were somewhat surprised to see a saloon car perched on the top of the road given the terrain we had just come up, but then realised that there was a tarmac road up the other side which we were able to come down.

Fantastic views and many picture taking opportunities at 6000ft (2000m).  Will try to upload sme tomorrow, but it's rather late and last day of holiday tomorrow.

Plant update  - still alive!
