The Plant is Still Alive!

Yes, the plant is still alive - in fact, I do believe it may even have grown!

Anyway, enough about the plant, I am sure that you are wishing to confirm that the lovely ladies who camped made it back in one piece!  Well, we did.  We made it there, put up camp, made fire, took down camp and made it back again all by ourselves.  And what an amazing time we had.  Once the tents were up and the barbie lit, we went for a little swim while watching the sun go down.  It's quite spectacular when the view along the horizon is completely unimpeded.  For the first time ever, I watched the moon track along the sky lighting up the entire beach.  There was no need for torches or the like because the moon was full and so bright in the clear sky.  What an experience!  We did the dutiful thing and drank plenty while cooking various foodstuffs on the world's smallest barbecue, as well as cooking marshmallows on the open fire.  That brought back memories of the Frank Chapman Centre all those years ago!

Still, when you don't manage to crawl into tents until 2:00am, the sun rising at 4:30am with the inevitable call to prayer is not the most welcome of sounds I have to admit.  Still, we managed to stay in bed until around 6:45 when the temperature was just too high to remain any longer.  The solution?  Swim!  Another first  - I can honestly say that I have never been in the sea before 7am before, but it was wonderful.  Sadly, the camp had been infested with the biggest wasps ever who took a fancy to our part-cleared feast from the night before, so a quick tidy-up was required pre-swim. Not a mistake to be made again.

After a hearty brekkie of beans and scrambled eggs, we spent a rather lazy morning on the beach in and out of the sea and ventured home around lunchtime when it was decided that the sun was really too much of  a good thing.

The lack of sleep may have caught up on me, so a short nap was required before tackling the outside world once more.  We made our way to the mall to attempt the purchase of a golf trolley to aid my caddying.  Sadly, golf equipment is not so plentiful here, so it will have to wait for another day.  Testament to our youthfulness, we ventured out to a bar for the rest of the evening.  A strangely familiar setting  - could have been anywhere - but really pleasant nevertheless.  A 2am departure did nothing for my beauty sleep though!

Yesterday was another lazy day - breakfast (well, lunch) at the dolphin club by the pool interspersed with dips in said pool before heading home to do the inevitable end-of-weekend preparation for work.  More good food at our 'ususal' with some of the guys from work.

I'm still not sure how long it will take to get used to Saturday being the first day of the week, but we're getting there.  Nothing much to report from the day at work, so I'll sign off.
